I Fagiolini and Robert Hollingworth demonstrate their extraordinary versatility as a vocal ensemble
Today's video affords us the opportunity to highlight the extraordinary versatility of I Fagiolini, as their performance of Ferré's ‘Chanson d’automne’ contrasts beautifully with today's release of a newly remastered version of their Gramophone Award-winning recording of Striggio's Mass in 40 Parts for the Coro label. I Fagiolini’s massed voices and plethora of Renaissance instrumentalists recreate textures such as those Striggio might have expected and reviewer Fabrice Fitch wrote that these performances 'revel in the showy splendour of it all' and illustrate the music’s 'variegated plumage'.
The film of Ferré's ‘Chanson d’automne’, which couldn't be more different from the Striggio Mass, comes from a full concert by I Fagiolini called 'Au Naturel' which is part of this year's LIVE From London Summer festival.
The LIVE From London Summer festival runs from August 12 to September 17 and a season ticket for all concerts can be purchased for £80 (individual access £14) from livefromlondon.org. And your LIVE From London Summer ticket will also save you 20% on new subscriptions to Gramophone. Enter code 'LIVE23' at the checkout to claim your discount.
